Stealing Beauty. More than new collection
On May 8, Selera unveils its new collection — Stealing Beauty.
Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, it celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the passage of time, simplicity, and the natural.
This is a collection about fleetingness and the quiet value of the unfinished.
About clothing that lives with the body — in motion, in mood, in pause.
About what slips away — and because of that, remains with us.
Materials
Each piece is made from natural fabrics — cotton, wool, and Tencel.
These materials are gentle to the touch, breathable, and grow more beautiful with time — just as wabi-sabi teaches.
Functionality
The collection includes transformable garments:
— kimonos and trench with detachable vests
— zippered skirts that shift shape and length
These are pieces that adapt not only physically, but emotionally — to your mood, the season, the moment.
Collaboration with Here and now ceramic
Selera has partnered with the sustainable ceramics brand hereandnow, which works with upcycled materials.
Their pieces — marked by cracks, restoration, and the quiet dignity of what has lived — deeply echo the wabi-sabi ethos.
These ceramic works became a vital part of the visual narrative of the collection.
Key piece
A hand-embroidered jacket holds notes — small, attachable reminders of the seven wabi-sabi principles.
Each one is a wearable fragment, inviting reflection:
1. Imperfection — beauty in handmade flaws and asymmetry
2. Transience — everything changes: the body, feelings, connections
3. Naturalness — materials that age, breathe, and have texture
4. Simplicity — only the essence, nothing more
5. Modesty — quiet form, deep thought
6. Tranquility — the stillness of self-acceptance
7. Melancholic beauty — the soft sadness that deepens meaning
These principles are not just stitched into the fabric — they are woven into the experience of wearing.
Stealing Beauty is not a wardrobe. It’s a state of being.
Garments that don’t aim to impress — only to exist.
Beauty that vanishes — and lingers.
