We were taught that clothes should be affordable.

But why is the real cost of a cheap T-shirt not $5, but the ruined health of garment workers, tons of textile waste, and rivers poisoned with dyes?

The paradox: people buy fast fashion because they can’t afford expensive clothes, yet end up spending more. Cheap items tear, wear out, and go out of style in a season.

It’s an endless loop of cheap purchases.

Sustainable clothing seems more expensive, but it’s an investment that pays off for years. It’s not a luxury — it’s smart consumption.

So, is cheap fashion really “affordable”? Or is it just an illusion that comes at a high price for people and the planet?
